my mother had been lobbying for me to use cloth nappies even before clarisse was born. each time we'd see a baby on disposables she'd have a say or two about her dislike of it. so now i thought about using cloth nappies as clarisse is older and i'm supposedly more mobile and forgiving of my endless house chores. i went and opened my baby manual book and 'studied' how cloth nappies operates. The book goes

1. select a type of nappy. terry cloth or muslin. It goes on to enumerate the advantages and disadvantages.

that's not too hard since i got terry cloth ones already.

2. use nappy liners with your cloth nappies to avoid rashes.

so off i went to the grocery store. i searched and searched the nappy section and was astounded to find not a single box of liners amongst the long stacks of disposable nappies, wipes, washclothes, nursing pads, creams and baby lotions. Greg told me I need to go to a specialist store for that. That gives me an idea how popular this cloth nappy.

3. use bobby pins to secure nappy

skip. mine has buttons.

4. use pilchers to make sure any leakage is minimal.

whoa?! clarisse would be bundled up in layers of clothes. I'm not sure this is getting to be a good idea.

5. remove 'debris' from soiled nappy and soak nappy in nappy solution.

additional tasks to doing baby's laundry, as if loading her laundry to the washer and hanging her clothes on the dryer and folding her clothes and sorting her clothes drawer are not enough. okay, okay, I think I can handle a couple more steps.

by the way, i think she looks more cute with her pooh huggies. let's not hurry to use cloth nappies yet ;)
